And You Thought Inception was Confusing Sober

"You remind me of someone... a man I met in a half-remembered dream. He was possessed of some radical notions."

Alright so for tonight's blog we'll be viewing a film with one hell of a cast. Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, and Marion Cotillard all in one banging cinema pic written and directed by Christopher Nolan. First let's begin by saying that all of these stars have a hell of a record, not to mention I'm relatively sure Nolan hasn't made a bad picture yet. Maybe I'm wrong, don't fact check me on that.

Anyway we're gonna be pairing this with two different drinks tonight, because I'm feeling like celebrating the fact we all made it through another week. If you don't think that's worth celebrating then you should probably throw in a third drink. I'm going off on a tangent, the first drink is what I'll be calling The Limbo. What you'll need for this is half a bottle of absinthe- just kidding you're just gonna be grabbing a bottle of gin and some Cranberry Ocean Spray. Throw that shit in a shaker and lets go to town.

It doesn't necessarily have to be New Amsterdam Gin but it's cheap and pretty damn good. It does need to be Spray Ocean Cranberry Juice. This is absolutely critical as you will see later. The fresh piny taste of the gin will mix incredibly well with the juice. If mixed properly (and with a little imagination) it should taste like a northern beach during spring.

The clear fresh look of the gin isn't as imposing as a vodka would be, it's almost a different type of clear. Just as we see that dreams are constructed differently and can be hard to tell the difference from each layer, it should be difficult to differentiate the taste of the gin from the cranberry. The spray enters your mouth and slowly spreads across your taste buds, like an idea taking form.

The second drink I'd suggest for this film is Dark Truth Stout by Boulevard Brewing Co. The name is not the only reason I'm suggesting this imperial stout. The dark rich taste has a hidden sweetness behind it, very much like the film. The body is dark and the head is creamy, it isn't easy to see through and the taste certainly isn't something that you would expect or anticipate. It's easy to get lost in the smell and look after poured into a pint glass.

Actual drunken review will follow in the next post. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it!
